What influenced your decision to enter the seminary? What influence my decision to enter the seminary was the fact that I was attracted to all aspects of the lifestyle of the priesthood ever since I was young. Even as I got older, that attraction, though it was tested, never ceased. Being bought up in a balanced, Catholic household, learning about the priesthood from my uncle, who his a priest in Philadelphia, going to Catholic school all my life and my love for the Mass are all really the foundation as to why I entered the seminary to really see where God is calling me.
Advice to other young men considering the priesthood:I believe fear is what drives young men away from thinking about the possibility of entering the seminary. Prior to seminary there are fears, no question about it, but those fears are not from God, they are from the devil. Do not let your fears prevent you from thinking about a possible vocation. If you have any deep desire that you think you could possibly be called to the priesthood, talk to someone in our Church, whether it be someone in your parish or in a Catholic school. You don’t have to tell the world, but you cannot keep it all inside. As Fr. Brett Brannon put it, “God cannot drive a parked car, Move!!”
