This time of year, we see children returning to school. Perhaps some are just beginning in Pre-school and others are in their final year of college. When it comes to our Catholic faith, our schooling never ends. We must always continue to learn about the Lord and His Church. We will not have a deep relationship with the Lord and therefore fall in love with Him, if we do not go deeper with Him and then speak to Him. The Lord is calling everyone to have a personal relationship with Him. He does want to leave anyone out. What can we do?
We all have questions. For example, what does eternal life mean? Is there a Heaven and hell? Why did Jesus die on the Cross? Do we worship Mary? Are miracles real or are they symbolism or simply stories? Why is there a Catholic Church? Why does God allow bad things to happen? These are questions that can encourage to search for the truth. While the internet can cause problems, it is a blessing if used to find the truth and to bring the truth to change us.
Answers can be found in the Holy Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Church Fathers, the Lives of the Saints, good Catholic media channels that explain the faith such as Scott Hahn and Brant Pitre. The Catholic resources are endless if we search. We may not be officially returning to school, but we should ask the Holy Spirit to have us thirst for the truth that is only found in Jesus Christ. Sometimes we do not even know how thirsty we are, but it is possible for us to satiate this thirst. We must beware that we can also attempt to quench our thirst with poisonous water or works that lead us away from Christ.
Let yourself be amazed through the gift of revelation given to us by Christ Himself. This relationship with Christ will reveal to us who we really are and what our calling is in life. Our vocation or invitation from God will become evident and only then can we say yes to His will in our lives.
