The Holy Rosary

The Rosary is something that I grew up saying with my family every single night. My mother would call us all in the living room around 7:30 pm or so and we would pray as a family. To be completely honest with you, I dreaded that time because it seemed pointless and it interrupted the flow of the night. I thought that I could’ve been doing something way more productive, like playing video games or watching jeopardy (which I actually strangely enjoyed watching from the age of 12-15 years old). But I guess it’s just like anything as a kid, if your parents make you do something over and over you naturally tend towards not enjoying it very much. It was a real shame that I didn’t take advantage of that time praying the rosary while I was growing up because I now know the true power that lies in praying the Holy Rosary.

When I was in my freshman year of college at SCC I had a huge change of heart and I actually wanted to pray each and every day. I really came to the realization that the Lord was so very real and I wanted to talk to him every day. So thanks to the strong foundation that my parents laid when I was young, I was prepared to pray on my own in a very deep way. I started praying the rosary every single day by myself. I just contemplated the Lord’s life during the mysteries of the Rosary through his mother’s eyes. It has gotten to the point that the day does not feel right until I have prayed my daily Rosary.

Don’t be intimidated by the Rosary! You may say that it seems so long and monotonous or even just boring but remember the famous quote by Confucius “the man who moves a mountain, begins by moving away small stones”. Start small if you need to, maybe by just saying a decade and really giving it your full concentration while you’re saying it. By saying the rosary you will have strength and courage to do what you may have thought was impossible, but when you invoke the blessed mother and the son of God, Jesus Christ through the Holy Rosary then you will have nothing to fear. I beg you to never stop praying. God bless you all.
